 Thanks, Mr Patten, for having been one of the boldest of all Governors of
 Hong Kong, yet one of the most caring, especially during that troubled
 period of transistion.
 
 You have set an example for your successors to follow. Your government
 - together with British Sovereignty - over Hong Kong will be commemorated
 throughout history and throughout the hearts of most of the people of
 Hong Kong.
 
 May God, the author of mankind and all history, bless you in the same way
 as He has always blessed the Queen, and may God bless the people of
 Hong Kong likewise.
 
 I, on behalf of most people in our home place, bid you farewell.
 We look forward to re-union in the foreseeable future!
 
 I shall remain proud to be both Chinese AND British.
